On Philadelphia: “The thing I like most about Philadelphia is the aesthetics. The architecture and streets, the basements and storm shutters for the underground on the brownstones—they’re so much more beautiful than New York. There’s a historical feel, mixed with scruffy, urban, bohemian hippie/hip-hop culture, which is cool. Seeing the sun set off South Street, with the cobblestones—it’s like an East Coast San Francisco. My dad died when I was 5, so I don’t think he ever brought me to Philly. I don’t think my mom ever brought me to Philly either. The only person who ever brought me to Philly was my babysitter. I wish I had more memories of Philly. I’m going to make more. That’s my mission.”

Sean Lennon’s newest album Friendly Fire was released in October.
